RESPOND TO POST BELOW believe that commitment within organizations is essential to success. Most people get jobs to pay the bills, but along those lines, they'd want to work a job that they somewhat enjoy. They'd want to get some type of satisfaction out of working since their time and efforts are going to perform tasks for the organizations. When job searching, some people like to see if the company's mission aligns with their personal goals. Ever heard of the saying, "If your heart isn't in it, then you won't win it" ? Generally, an employee will not do their best each and every day if they don't have something motivating them. As a healthcare professional and leader, I encourage my staff to have empathy and to put themselves in the shoes of others who appear to have difficulties with their health and/or finances, all the while following the rules and regulations in place. Doing the right thing in your career tends to lead to positive outcomes and typically this sparks some sort of excitement or gratification in a person. In chapter 7, Job commitment is defined as 'the degree to which an individual identifies with and is attached to an organization. Commitment becomes stabilizing within an organization and providing direction for the behavior for the employee.' In the chapter, there are three components that make up Commitment. They are as follows: Affective Commitment: refers to an employee's perceived emotional connection to their company. When an employee feels that the company's mission aligns with their personal values and goals and when they feel at home in the workplace, this is when effective commitment is found. Continuance Commitment: is a measurement of an employee's desire to remain employed by the same company. Some people like to make careers with organizations that they truly have a passion for. This leads to job promotions, benefits, and lowers employee turnover. Normative Commitment: The concept of normative commitment refers to an employee's sense of duty or accountability toward the company. The level of commitment that employees feel they should maintain toward a specific goal is known as normative commitment. An employee who feels pressured to remain with a company is one example.A benefit to this form of commitment can be bonuses and small recognition rewards/certificates. It is challenging to control one's feelings in the workplace when there is passion behind one's efforts. Healthcare is always changing and has shown to be very stressful to its professionals, especially during the pandemic. When stress seems to have a grip on employees, morale declines which has a negative effect on their personal lives as well as their work performance. As a leader, I am committed to my job as well as my staff. Their safety and happiness matter to me, so checking up on them and making sure that they are satisfied with their jobs is a necessary part of my job. Another part of my job is to make sure that we are moving in the right direction to accomplishing goals and closing out on tasks. Good employees keep the business running positively. I'd want to make sure that they feel heard, valued, and supported while committing to performing their best.
