Biohazardous waste has gotten into the water system and turned Manhattan into a Zombie Kingdom. It was something in that waste that created the undead population, who now must feed on human brains in order to survive. So far, more than 1,000 people in New York City have been killed and their brains removed. Police cannot kill these Zombies through traditional means as the only way to kill a Zombie is to destroy the brain (stabbing, shooting, crushing, etc.). Out of the 1.6 million people in Manhattan, 1 million of them are Zombies and the number is spreading quickly. The Problem: You have a Zombie Apocalypse in Manhattan. So far, it is just contained to Manhattan, but after the entire community is either killed or turned into Zombies, the population will spread. What do you do? How do you contain the city? How do you keep the Zombies from spreading? Your Review: Factor out the issues, follow official protocol and consider the questions above. What do you tell the public, especially those in and surrounding Manhattan? Describe the nature of the situation. Explain what FEMA and others are doing to mitigate the situation. Explain what people need to do to stay safe or to get help in order to reduce panic. What are the issues you will address first? Which organization is responsible for what? Where will you allocate your resources? What public health concerns are the results of each of these events? Which populations might be most at risk? What are some of the long-term health effects of these events? What other health concerns may arise from these events? What will you say to the people, who are desperately awaiting your direction?
