—————- 1- I believe it is important to protect free speech regardless of what their political nature is. That includes the KKK, neo-Nazi's or the Westboro Baptist Church. If heavy regulations to the first amendment applies to these organizations no matter how hurtful they are, that could lead to the government going too far and removing free speech for whatever it finds offensive, and that list could be long. Sooner than later, we could also have our second amendment rights removed and so on. I believe it is important to protect free speech at all costs. The costs to society of allowing these organizations to exist is creating a conflict of opposing sides. People get uncomfortable to these views and that could call protests to restrict the first amendment. People will believe anything like the earth is flat and the majority of people may not agree with them but the first amendment protects those people who believe in a flat earth. The alternative of this is to allow restrictions of the first amendment and do what other countries do and that is fine and jail people for what the government may find offensive, which could be anything. ———————————— 2- The First Amendment shouldn't be interpreted to protect the political speech of the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, or the Westboro Baptist Church because they form some hate speech. In comparison, neo-Nazis have a hatred for Jewish people as well as the LGBTQ community Representing a strong nationalism. Then the Westboro Baptist Church is a hate group of homosexual people and Jewish people. These groups have held assemblies or protest things of that matter which Could and have built up to clear and present danger, fighting words, violence, and more. The cost to society of allowing such extreme voices a preferred position would be a disaster it might lead to people getting detained, going to jail, riots, deaths, injuries, and feeling unsafe, and people might not feel that sense of belongingness anymore. Instead of a utopia, it will be a dystopia from all the controversy. Having these groups say whatever they want won't end in a happy ending.
